Alan’s Love Letter

I meant to upload this video last Friday while I was still in the UK, but we lost all access to the internet while I was in the Scottish Highlands.

The idea for this video started as a joke. In Paul Revere’s Ride, David Hackett Fischer points out that Paul Revere sometimes misspelled words phonetically—and the misspellings reveal a Boston accent: “chattaer” for “charter,” “git” for “get,” “mash” for “marsh.”

I told Adam Withers that I thought it would be hilarious to have someone read Alan’s love letter to Bea in a Bostonian accent. Adam, master of accents, couldn’t resist the challenge, and we recorded him reading the letter on the patio after our annual post-Otakon dinner at the Paper Moon Diner.

If you're ever in Baltimore, stop for all-day breakfast and eclectic fun at the Paper Moon Diner.

I planned to post this when I was in the UK last Friday, but once we got to the Isle of Skye on Scotland we lost all wifi for four days. Sorry for no post last week!

My dear friend and college roommate Beth Brockhaus edited this video. The thing about Beth is that she’s an overachiever! I hope you enjoy this. It’s unexpectedly moving.

IMG_1274Beth Brockhaus graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design with a degree in Time Based Media Design. With her love for all things movies and television Beth chose to focus on video editing and shooting and can often be found with her face in a computer editing a project in Final Cut Pro. She can be contacted at bethenb@aol.com.
